19^th of September 2009

On Saturday, 19^th of September 2009, 48 lofts from Bucharest, Ilfov and Prahova County, members of FCPR and FRC federations, competed in a private derby with youngsters, from Tarna Mare (Satu Mare County). The average distance was 460 km. Those 193 birds have been basketed in the container of “The Swallow” pigeon club from Bucharest, and the awards were pretty handsome: 

-         1^st prize = 350 EUR

-         2^nd prize = 240 EUR

-         3^rd prize = 120 EUR

-         4^th – 10^th prizes = 50 EUR

-         11^th – 60^th prizes = 12 EUR

For each pigeon one had to pay a tax, while a fancier was not allowed to basket more than 5 birds. Even the weather was not so good, the event proved to be a successful race after all. The winning pigeons were 3 birds owned by Mr. Simion Emil from Bucharest. They won the first three places clocking within 5 seconds time-lapse! His other 2 basketed pigeons won the 8^th and the 11^th place. And now a random fact: all these 5 pigeons owned by Mr. Simion Emil have been clocked within 19 minutes, and the winner made an average velocity of 1112,6 m/min.

Among the fanciers who competed for this nice derby there can be mentioned: Stanescu + Dobre, Rusu Dan, Sandu Catalin, Petrescu Romeo, Dinica Adrian, Popa Eugen, Mincu Petre, Iordache Lucian, Stoica Marin, Badana Laurentiu, Oancea Ovidiu, Neagu Milica, Petru Alexandru etc.

Finally, <Romanian Racing Pigeons> would like to salute this initiative and to congratulate the event planners, the winner and all the fanciers who participated. We would also like to wish them every success for the following derbies, both with youngsters and old birds.
